What I've Been Reading, Watching, Listening To & More

What I've Been Reading, Watching, Listening To & More HollieAnnBowe
One of the many positives I'm taking from spending more time at home is finally getting round to ticking off things that have been on my to-do list for as long as I can remember. Everything from series we've never finished to books I never started plus so many other things that I thought I'd pop together in a post for you.

How To Be An Overnight Success I actually started reading this book whilst in Greece last October and, of course, never finished it. Despite that I think it's a great read and a good insight into how the much-loved brand, Rodial, came to be.

Wolf of Wall Street A story that interests me so much though I'm a quarter way through the book and so far the film adaptation is almost word for word. It's also got Leo in it so I'd maybe skip this and just grab the popcorn.

Where The Crawdads Sing I can't get over how much I love this book. I always knew I would but it's so much more than I could have ever hoped. It explores the subject of race, class, love and coming of age in such a beautiful way and it's definitely one I'll recommend to everyone.

Cosmopolitan My one true love.

Condé Nast Traveller A recent addition to my subscriptions but since we're currently unable to travel, it's perfect for inspiration and escapism.

Hollywood I'd seen mixed reviews of this online but I couldn't resist putting it on one evening. In short I'd say it's a good watch, it could have been better but it was totally worth it. There's only 7 episodes so it's easy to digest I just think there was room to explore issues a little deeper.

The Crown I had been begging my wife to watch this for years and we finally started a little over a month ago. Hands down, I love it - I wasn't super crazy on the cast change in the third season but I'm learning to live with it and it's a super interesting insight.

Dead To Me Another one of those Netflix shows we put on when there was nothing else to watch. I've only watched one episode so far but I'm reluctant to continue because it was so predictable. So far the humour is great but I'm not a fan I don't think.

The Stranger Okay I'm cheating. Technically I watched this like two months ago however if you haven't seen it, I'm here to tell you that you should. I found myself shocked in every single episode and didn't see the conclusion coming at all which I liked.

Tiger King Watched it for the hype, will never watch it again.

Hells Kitchen Not a week goes by without a rerun of Hells Kitchen. What's not to love?

The Great Gatsby I've loved this film since the first time I watched it and seeing as I hadn't seen it in a while I popped it on last Sunday. There were tears as expected but it's always a good watch if you've got enough time to sit through it - Two hours of Leo though, am I right?

High School Musical Would 2020 lockdown be complete without watching the High School Musical trilogy on Disney+? I think not. Come to think of it, Hannah Montana Movie, Lizzie McGuire Movie and anything Pixar have also been great.

Desperate Housewives Who knew Desperate Housewives was on Amazon Prime? That's the rest of my lockdown entertainment sorted.

Listening To

90s & 00s Classics - All of the Steps, Britney Spears, S Club, Samantha Mumba. If it's on a 90s/00s playlist, I'm listening to it. Just such fun, feel good fun music and excellent for working out to.

& More

Peloton We took the plunge in March and invested in a Peloton bike. It took 4 weeks to arrive but we're both absolutely loving it. I thought it was just for pro-athletes but there's something for everyone. It's bloomin' wonderful and great for working off the wine. #Pelo4Wine anyone?

Cooking When I first started working from home we were so uninspired with cooking and considering we cook fresh every night, it was strange for us. We've found our groove now and are getting used to trying new recipes, less frequent food shops and finding what works for us.

Rosé All of those years I spent hating on rosé and it's somehow become my favourite drink at the moment. We drank a lot of it back in Paris last year and since we couldn't go this Easter as planned, I picked up a wine similar to the one we drank there and my god, I remember why we went through so much.

TikTok Did anyone else put off downloading TikTok for the longest time and now all you do is send videos from it to the group chat? Me too. I can't get over how much I love it. So fun and fresh, not quite ready to tackle it myself but I'm loving having new content to digest.

What've you been up to? Hope you're staying safe.
