What I'm Planning To Do In Charleston
I honestly can't believe I've already been in Charleston for a week.

If you haven't had the misfortune of being bombarded by my Instagram snaps or read my last blog post, you may not be aware that I'm currently in Charleston, South Carolina, travelling with work for two months. I can't believe that it's been just one week since my partner dropped me off at Manchester Airport and now I'm in a city surrounded by palm trees and glorious sunshine - For the most part.

So how's it going so far? In short, bloomin' brilliant. The past week has been filled with everything from dinners with friends and colleagues, nights out downtown, the most beautiful beach trip and of course, working hard in the office day to day. I've finally conquered my fear of driving in the states, tried my first side order of mac and cheese and probably consumed more Pinot Grigio than I ever thought possible. On the flipside, of course it's been hard being away from my partner, family and friends back home but I'm still fueled on the adrenaline of being somewhere new, forming a new routine and really feeling like I'm utilising my time here, both in work and out.

At the risk of sounding corny, I always knew I'd love Charleston. Besides the nights my friends and I sat teary-eyed watching The Notebook, the city has always been on my radar and so far it hasn't disappointed. The people are among the most welcoming I've ever met - Southern hospitality is the real deal - the scenery is stunning and the history of the holy city really is fascinating and something I'm eager to learn more about in the coming weeks.

I really want to share all of the things I've been up to including food, drink and to-do recommendations like I have in the past but at the moment it feels so strange not trying to condense everything into a seven-day trip because, after all, I have seven more weeks here. Instead, to start off, I thought I'd break down what is at the top of my to do list in a couple of different categories. I won't go into detail because that'll come in a future post but for now, I'd love for you to get an idea of what we'll be up to and of course, your recommendations are always welcome!

We of course want to check out some beaches whilst we're on the coast. All of them come highly recommended but Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island, Shem Creek and Isle of Palms are top of our list.

Southern food is absolutely incredible and it seems like everything in town comes with it's own reputation. Halls Chophouse has been recommended ten times over along with Dig In The Park, Home Team BBQ, Swig and Swine and Hanks Seafood. Snapper Jacks and Mex1 are also on our list and so was Indaco - We checked it out last week and I can confirm it's brilliant.

There's a number of bars we'd love to check out in the area and I hope we'll get chance to visit them all. We really want to go to Charleston Sports Bar to watch a game, Market Pavilion for prosecco, Uptown Social for frose along with Ink and Ivy and Mynt for dancing. Prohibition also comes highly recommended for cocktails along with King Street Pub for a relaxed vibe.

As well as eating and drinking, we really want to visit some historical sights and submerse ourselves in the culture. We're dying to visit Boone Hall Plantation and Magnolia Plantation. 2nd Sunday on King Street is said to be lots of fun along with the Festival of Lights closer to Christmas. The Battery, Rainbow Row and Pineapple Fountain are some spots we want to visit downtown and we'd also love to see Angel Oak with living kind of close by. If we have time, Gospel Brunch would be amazing and a baseball or football game would be loads of fun.

If you have any recommendations, be sure to let me know here or on Instagram.
